We had a great weekend - starting Thursday, we left our daughter at her grandmother's and drove to Stockholm. Thursday evening we saw The Police at Globen Arena in Stockholm - they were great. OK, not like they were 20 years ago, but what do you want - no-one's getting any younger and they rocked like crazy. The drummer, Stuart Copeland, is amazing - it's not just drums with him but also percussion. The guitar player was a bit off - hubby was wondering what he'd been taking... But Sting was, as always, fit as a fiddle and his voice has that "shreak" to it that makes it so good...
Friday - shopping in Stockholm. I found a new purse, a couple of tops and ate great food before heading for the cinema. We had to take the chance when we were child-free! What we saw? Harry Potter... It was a great HP-movie, but hubby can't really understand what's so great about them. He hasn't read the books either, so he's as much a muggler a person can be! ;)
Saturday we headed out for a small town called Rättvik, approximately right dead in the middle of Sweden. We got there in time for buying lots of Dalecarlian horses before checking in to our hotel. And what did we find at the hotel? Well, the band for the night was staying at the same hotel as us! That was cool...
And now, you might wonder, who was this night's band? It was Europe! And yes, they are still live and kicking, with new albums and all.
The concert was in an abandoned lime-quarry called Dalhalla - it's got excellent acoustics, and the sound on Saturday was fantastic! I've heard that Europe are extremely picky on their sound, and it really paid off. I'm usually the first to find my earplugs on concerts, but I could've gone completely without the entire concert if it weren't for the audience whistling so loud I could hear my eardrums crackle... Needless to say, it was a real high going there. There were a group of Japanese girls/women (hard to say, they look so much younger than they are) who'd come all the way from Japan to worship Joey Tempest (singer). I thought they were going to fall over from the excitement, but they managed to stay on their feet the entire concert.
We were very tired on Sunday when we left the hotel, and it's not better today - driving 1360 kilometers in four days kind of has that effect on the body... Lots of candy will help keeping you awake, though! :)
