An update is in order!
Physically, I'm still working at the same ward as a year ago, but the patient category has changed completely. Turns out, the hospital needed more beds devoted to acute internal medicin and infection, so all of my colleagues moved to another facility with the Anne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-50569540696515884762012-03-09T19:14:00.000+01:002012-03-09T19:14:45.463+01:00Officially a sleeping blogI haven't updated this blog in SOOOOO long, it feels almost wrong to go here. I think I'll officially call it asleep, and just keep it in case I find a use for it again some day.
I don't have time for much these days, I changed jobs to a different hospital a bit further down the road, and working full time there takes up all my days and evenings. I'm not sure I like it either, the ward has Anne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-74935664753719963502011-09-21T13:12:00.000+02:002011-09-21T13:12:04.936+02:00It's fall, and I've been a bad bloggerI've said it before, and I'll say it again: I am not the most diligent blogger around. If you're reading this, I'm guessing you've already discovered that, but still find it interesting to see what I'm up to occasionally.
Since January I've graduated (I am now a RN, with the diploma to prove it), started working as a nurse at a stroke unit at the local hospital, and I've been knitting like I'm Anne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-47843582769280019802011-01-13T20:09:00.000+01:002013-10-06T11:34:41.946+02:00HPKCHCThe dreaded thesis has been sent in. So, I suddenly found myself with time on my hands again! What a marvellous feeling, I got all fiddly and nervous and started fondling ALL of my stash. And believe me, there is some stash to fondle here in my office...
I ended up in the yarn box, with a couple of knitting needles at the ready, but with absolutely no idea what to knit. Ravelry to the rescue! And even though I know everyone says this, I can't believe how fast the years go by! It doesn't seem like that long ago I was watching her first steps and her first tooth, and here she is, all big and can read her own birthday cards. Happy birthday, little one!
It was quite a surprise to learn that ALL of the folks on her dad's side could come today - I don't Anne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-50930172605365258352010-09-30T09:32:00.000+02:002010-09-30T09:32:41.706+02:00Exam stressSo, the stress of being in school finally caught up with me. I have trouble focusing, butterflies have moved in permanently in my guts, I can't fall asleep at night, and I have this restlessness that leads nowhere. Spells out stress to anyone who knows anything about the central nervous system... So how do I get rid of it, other than getting this exam (saturday) over and done with? I know, bad habit - people like to get comments - but a lot of the blogs I read already get 35 comments per post, and I don't think I have that much more to say. And sometimes a blog post comes along, that makes me see what the fuss is about. Today, Outi posted that she writes like DanielAnne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-31367621194166990262010-06-28T17:08:00.003+02:002010-06-28T17:21:06.830+02:00Heartful encountersI spent 6 hours in the car yesterday - driving to see my husband and daughter for a few hours, before going back to my parents' house in Norway. I'm in Norway now, see - working my butt off at an old folks' home, trying to save our meager economy for the summer. I may have learnt a lot about the differences in care here and in Sweden, but my main lesson is this: I won't be doing it again. They've started digging for yet another house (not the one next door, but the one next to that), and so far it's looking like a monster of a house... The floor plan is about the same as ours, but according to the rumours it's going to be a 2-storey building - that would be something around 240 square metres... Without much further ado, here's this month's question:Suppose we say that there are two types of stitchers. There are those who enjoy the “process” of stitching. It is quite interesting to see, it is not like any other hospital ward I've seen. For one, all the patients use their own personal clothes. I understand why, it's just so unusual and quite striking when you first walk through the doors. Second, everything is locked - but then again, IAnne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-74663285888705316192010-03-25T09:08:00.003+01:002010-03-25T09:30:29.841+01:00Alas, I've let my blog slideIt's been too long this time - but as always, I have a great excuse. Being out in the real world, meeting real patients, really did get the best of me. But now I'm back again for a quick visit, before heading out to a psych ward for 3 weeks! The huge amounts of snow around the house have disappeared - there is a little left, but not enough to cover the complete mess the builders left behind them.Anne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-5551111475674547942010-02-21T21:38:00.005+01:002010-02-21T21:57:00.951+01:00Moved and snowed inSo we finally made the move. On Valentine's Day of all days of the year. So much for romance and candle lit dinners... But it was a good move - I got to go to a party! We've finally taken over the house and started moving our stuff. Bit by bit, book by book, we're rebuilding our lives... Speaking of which, when visiting IKEA in Gothenburg (to get some bits and pieces for the house, you know) I learned a hard lesson: DO NOT keep your mobile in your front pocket if you want to keep it! As for life and everything, the house is coming along. I've been inside, the heat is on, but there's no electric wiring done so not much to see so far. On the outside, we are still waiting on the roof tiles to be laid out, but according to the builders that will probably be started tomorrow. We have, as traditionally in the Nordic countries, already celebrated the birth of Christ, as the 24th is the Day here. We had a nice day with S' parents at their house - lunch, coffee and dinner, with presents spread out a little here and a little there. As of today, there is something rather big, in lots of blue plastic, on our lot. There is a door, but that is all that can make someone guess it's supposed to be a house. No roof either. Apparently, it was too windy and cold to "undress" the house, so instead the builders covered it up a little extra and will be back on Monday. We went by the lot yesterday, because the diggers weren't sure how big the patio at the back of the house should be and wanted me to tell them. I made them make it bigger ;)The big hole in the dirt made a few days ago has now been filled, and tomorrow they will be placing Anne Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452753082147840261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4145310177220148734.post-86830050502485641752009-12-01T22:05:00.002+01:002009-12-01T22:08:06.653+01:00They've broken ground! The builders have actually started working!
